The New Zealanders won the American Cup in Bermuda end of June 2017. This was their third victory since their first participation with the 12mR Yacht “Kiwi Magic” in 1987. At the same time, the “Kiwi Magic” of that time, sailed in the “Robbe & Berking Sterling Cup” which was, as it so often is, a kind of “America’s Cup Heritage Race.” Eleven of these fabulous Twelves made their way to Flensburg along with photographers from all over the world.
Not only photographers and spectators occupied the big fleet of accompanying boats, but also nine artists who had accepted the invitation to participate in a pleinair symposium along the course of the regatta. In spite of strong winds, rain, heavy fog and lull “North-German Realists” painted a total of 132 wonderful paintings preserving a few beautiful sailing days for prosperity.
In this calendar you will find a small selection of these paintings on the second page of each month.
